PRAIRIE DUST AND TIME

        I shot a rabbit once

        with a .300 Winchester magnum

        just to watch him do a gymnastic

        floor routine for me.

        Though he rushed the double

        somersault and his missing

COAST TO COAST ON THE CHEMTRAIL

I've seen them in the sky, rolling across like
smoke, with their boundless reach. Seen them
at night too, when they think I'm asleep.

BEHIND THE HOUSE OF LORE

        A wet cross in soft soil

        A crying child in autumn leaves

        Rabbits, three, on a fallen tree,

        behind the house of lore.

        Dew-glistening, clover patch behind

        wilting flowers overcome by weeds
