We weren't thinking discovery in Greece
symbolized alchemy next to the sea's secret
reservoir where elements change faster if air
is slightly tarnished and our skin tastes of salt
sprinkled on lime and we weren't thinking
about your hand resting on my thigh while
we drove through clouds without caring if
we should return to the desert where silvery
white light burns shavings of magnesium
on the fire that licks parched fingers searching
underneath illicit clothes falling at our feet.
