he tells me
                he's done
                more damage
                trying to come to
                a haiku
                way back when
                he took up
                half the world
                just coughing
                something rare
                at the same time
                he thumb plugged
                the oldest of rivers
                on that road
                they say only
                veers off
                for the lost shoe
                & the packies
                back when he'd
                give up all
                his Jesuses
                for a mouth
                full of sedans
